In 2016, the United States had an estimated 8.3 million people receive long-term care from a regulated facility (nursing home, assisted living, hospital, etc.) However, on average, only 6.5% of elderly Americans will ever be entered into a regulated facility, yet 70% of elderly Americans will require the care that is provided there. What does this mean? That millions of individuals who require long-term care (Care-Receivers) will never get the care they desperately need. These numbers have only grown more radical since 2016 and these statistics do not include younger individuals with disabilities or ailments that inhibit activities of daily living.
A majority of care-receivers are our community members. They are provided for, often at best, by a handful of friends, and family. It is often isolating, tiring, lonely, depressing, hopeless, and even an entrapping for the caregivers and the care-receivers; with many times wondering when there will be some escape from the seemingly unending spiral. We want to change that.
We at the Bearing Together Project want to walk alongside these people and bear this burden alongside them through providing financial, emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual assistance wherever is needed, however is possible, completely free of charge. Our passion is to help these people see there is: freedom despite their circumstances; purpose, joy, and fulfilment in caring for those who need it; purpose, hope, and a wonderful life to be had no matter the disability or ailment; and an abundant life only found in Jesus Christ.
